WILLIAM HEWITT JONES was born on April 14, 1936 in Victoria, Virginia. He was the son of Otelia C. Jones and the late David Emit Jones. William H. Jones attended Lunenburg High School. He was united in marriage to Dora W. Jones (Hardy) in 1955. They moved to Washington, DC and ultimately made their home in Baltimore, Maryland. William had a strong faith in God. At age 9, he was baptized at the New Grove Baptist Church. He was extremely devoted to his family and was well known for helping the neighborhood kids. Some fond memories of William include him dressing up as a clown for his grandkids birthday parties and dressing up as Santa Clause for Christmas . He had a love and gift for working on cars. As a Master Mechanic, he owned a Body and Fender shop and mentored young apprentices. He had a talent for fixing almost anything.
On Thursday, February 26, 2015, he departed this life at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He is predeceased in death by his brother James Jones. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Dora W. Jones; his mother, Otelia C. Jones; his daughters, Drusilla, Dora (Laurice), Jeannette (Stacy) and Trinia; brothers, Welcome Jones (Pete), David Jones (June) and Gary Jones; sisters Eva Lee, Jennida Savage and Otelia Lee (Bunny); grandchildren Danielle, Eugene, Jason, William, Stanley, Jasmine, Cameron, Briana, Jonathan, Keira, Kayla, Gabrielle, Quade, and 13 great grandchildren.
Family members and friends will honor William's life with a public viewing on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 6-9PM at the family owned and operated Ambrose Funeral Home of Lansdowne, 2719 Hammonds Ferry Rd.,Lansdowne, Maryland 21227. The wake and funeral for William will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 in Victoria, Virginia at the Peoples Community Center, Tide Water Road, Victoria, Virginia 23974 Wake: 12:30PM Funeral: 1:00PM. Interment Crowder's Family Plot.
