Wilfred Schmidt

February 13, 1919 — April 16, 2016

On April 16, 2016, Wilfred Frederick Schmidt of Linthicum Heights, 97, joined his beloved wife Elsie Rose who welcomed him at last at Heavens door.

Will Schmidt was an electrician and 65+ year member of The IBEW. He was also owner of Will Schmidt's Arbutus Texaco Service Station. A Man of many talents, he went to work as a supervisor at Westinghouse where he retired. In his retirement, he was a welcome and frequent helper to son David at Nor Lin Auto Parts in North Linthicum, welcoming customers and delivering orders. Will loved oysters, crabs, and rockfish. Many summers he taught his young family the fine art of tempting crabs to chicken necks and eventually crab pot! In his leisure time he was an avid Lionel model railroader and constantly upgraded his extensive collection to the delight of his grand and great grandchildren. He was a recreational boater, spending lazy summer days on his boat "Will and El" in search of that "big one". He loved flowers and wild life which he watched in his backyard. "Every day is a holiday" he would frequently say, and he enjoyed every day of his life. Wilfred exemplified a good Christian life and values to everyone he met and to his children and grandchildren. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Linthicum.

He is survived by his son Robert and wife Ethel of Pasadena, daughter Dorothy and husband Jim of Walkersville, daughter Diane and husband Paul of Harbinger, NC, son David and wife Frances of Woodstock, 7 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
