It is with sad and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend on Thursday, July 13th, 2023, after a very long and courageous battle with cancer.
Gaye was born in Kingsville, TX on January 6, 1960 to Wayland Glendene “Red” and Mary Ruth Whittington, who preceded her in death. She is survived by husband George, son Tyler Galante, stepson Joshua Galante, and granddaughter Nicole Galante. She is additionally survived by brothers Glen Whittington (Ginger), Gary Whittington (Mary), sister-in-law Denise Boggs (Robert) and nieces Gina (Michael Tashnick), Ashley & Amanda Whittington, great-niece Scarlett Tashnick, niece Michelle Horn (Al), nephew Wade Tettleton (Stephanie), great-niece Sydney Kay Tettleton and stepbrother David Jarrett.
Gaye was raised in Bishop, TX and finished high school in Granbury, TX. She attended college at Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University. After college, she first worked for the Texas icon, Whataburger, before starting her career in the automotive industry in Texas and then Baltimore, MD.
For years she worked for General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) before retiring there and starting her marketing career with Xcite Advertising. She worked steadfastly and diligently until a few days before her passing.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by daughter Ali Nicole Galante, nephew Jarrett Ryan Whittington, and stepfather Harry Jarrett.
Family and friends may gather at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1328 Sulphur Spring Rd., Halethorpe, MD 21227 for a public visitation on Wednesday, July 19 from 3:00-5:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 20 at 10:00am. Interment will immediately follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park
