Shirley Shiloh passed away peacefully after a long and blessed life on November 19, 2022. She was born on September 1, 1925, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Mervyn Shawe and Violet Shawe (nee Wright). She is the loving wife of the late Leonard Shiloh, caring sister of the late Mildred Cicero and the late Donald Shawe, loving mother of Len (and his wife Donna) and Bruce Shiloh, cherished grandmother of Amy Ernst, Matthew Shiloh, Michael Shiloh, Emily Shiloh and Nikki Wedemeyer, and dear great-grandmother of Zachary Ernst, Lucas Ernst, Nathan Rockhill, and Cole Shiloh, and survived by many loving relatives and friends, many of whom were honored to call her Gram.
Shirley met her husband of 73 years at the stable where he kept his horse Skip and a year later, they eloped while he was on a weekend leave from the Navy. She loved to spend time with family, travel to historical places (especially anything to do with Lincoln and the Civil War), and had twice the shopping stamina of anyone half her age. She was always up for an adventure (as long as she didn't have to drive) and brought joy and laughter to any room she was in.
Her friends and family were blessed to have her in their lives for all these years and she will be deeply missed.
A viewing will be held at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1328 Sulphur Spring Road, Halethorpe MD 21227 on Friday from 3-7pm. A funeral service will take place Saturday at 10am followed by burial at Loudon Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
