Sara Ashley

On December 24, 2017, Sara Jane Ashley (nee Nowottnick), daughter of the late August John Nowottnick and Edna Hooper, passed away at home peacefully following a lengthy illness. She was the endlessly devoted and loving mother of Donna Beck and her late husband Bill Beck; cherished grandmother of William Beck, his sister Nicole Cassidy and her husband Steven Cassidy. She was also the doting and affectionate great grandmother of Matthew, Noah, and Sarah Cassidy. Sara Jane was the dear sister of John Nowottnick and his wife Shirley, Leroy Nowottnick and his wife Mildred, Bertha Thompson and her husband Raymond, Paul ‘Butch’ Nowottnick, Doris Ann Nowottnick, Robert Nowottnick and his wife Cathy, and the late James Nowottnick. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and was treasured by many friends.

Sara was a lifelong resident of Maryland who dedicated her life to the happiness of her family. Many who loved her simply called her ‘Nana’. She was a hard working woman who would give the shirt off her back to make sure she could take care of as many as possible. She loved watching her soaps each day and enjoyed westerns, word searches, and puzzles. She adored spending time with her family. Her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were truly the light of her life.
