On Saturday, February 23, 2019, Sara “Sally” Lemoine (nee Rote) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was 80 years old. Sally was the loving wife of the late Gilbert “Frenchie” Lemoine, cherished mother of their only daughter Janine Karabelas and son-in-law Steve, devoted grandmother to George G. Karabelas and Christopher S. Karabelas, caring aunt to Michael Noble and Carol Swearingin, and loving sister to Roseanne McGlothlin, the late Joan Rote, and the late Patricia Rose.
Sally was born and raised in Baltimore, and was a 1956 graduate of Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School where she was voted Most Athletic of her class. At the age of 19 she ventured to France to marry the love of her life, Gil. Sally, a secretary by profession, spent the majority of her career working for Westinghouse Electric Corporation and then Northrop Grumman, where she retired after 38 years.
Family and friends may call at the family-owned Ambrose Funeral Home of Arbutus, 1328 Sulphur Spring Road, on Wednesday, February 27th from 4pm to 7pm, where a service will be held Thursday, February 28th at 10am. Interment will immediately follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park Cemetery, 7250 Washington Blvd. In lieu of flowers, at the family’s request memorial contributions may be directed in Sally’s memory to Emerge, 9180 Rumsey Road, Columbia, MD 21045 in loving memory of her sister, Joan Rote.
