Ruth Parkent

Ruth Margaret "Butch" Parkent of Arbutus, MD, passed away suddenly at the age of 84, on Saturday, November 23, 2013 amongst family and friends. The only daughter of Margaret Sullivan Bergman and a graduate of Catonsville High, Ruth was married to John Albert Parkent for 52 years before his death in 2000. She was a volunteer member of the Arbutus Arts Festival Committee for over 30 years and previously active with The Arbutus Theatrical Company. Her characteristic wit and "matter of fact" personality distinguished and endeared her to all she knew. Generous to a fault, much of her life was dedicated to her loving and taking care of many. She was the mother of 8 beloved children, 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Children: John Parkent, Jr., & wife Cathy of Brough, PA., Ruth Parkent "Peggie" Lee & husband Dewey of Pisgah Forrest, NC., Mary Young of Leadville, CO.,, Joe Parkent and wife Chris of Pasadena, MD., Alison Duvall of Front Royal, VA, Jeff Parkent & wife Teri of Sykesville, MD, Roxanne Fonger & husband Terry of Arbutus, MD., and Marc Parkent of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Viewing will be at Ambrose Funeral Home Sunday, December 8 ^th at 3-5pm and 7-9pm, Monday, December 9 ^th at 3-5pm, directly followed by funeral services at Ambrose. The family will receive friends immediately following Monday's funeral at the family home at 5231 Arbutus Ave. Grave side service and burial will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, December 11 ^th at Baltimore National Cemetery on Frederick Road , Catonsville .
