A time to be born. Ruby Madison Robinson was born to the late Ervin and Sarah Madison on August 8, 1948.
A time to live. Ruby grew up in Hale County, Alabama. She attended Madison School from the 1st - 6th grade. From 8th - 12th grade she attended Hale County Training School. After high school she enrolled in Job Crop where her focus was keypunch and secretary duties. After she came to Baltimore for on the job training, she was offered two jobs, Enoch Pratt Free Library and Social Security. She chose the library where she was employed from 1970 to 2016. She worked in various departments such as Circulation and the Microfilm Center where she loved interacting with the public. She found ways to make the department look better. For example, she took it upon herself to organize the entire selection of microfilm.
In 1974, Ruby was united in marriage to David Robinson, the love of her life. From this union one child was born, Davida Robinson. She was blessed with 1 grandchild, Autumn Costley, whom she doted on.
She joined Sharon Baptist Church under Dr. Alfred Vaughn. Ruby was president of the Usher Board and she organized a 100 Women in White affair. She always looked behind the scenes to see what had to be done and did it. She was known for cooking her famous collard and turnip greens, cornbread, and corn on the cob.
Ruby was a friend to everyone she met and if you were in need, she would give you the shirt off her back.
