Robert L. Keefer, age 93, passed away peacefully at his home in Westminster early on October 4, 2018. He is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Rosalie (Kralick) and their three loving children; Rose Trego (Tom) of Easton, Marie Kramer (Jim) of Hampstead, and Robert Keefer, Jr. (Beverly, R.I.P.) of Long Neck, DE. Proud “poppy” to David Trego (Aileen), Dan Kramer, Doug Keefer (Wesley), Rick Keefer (Lisa), Kate Kramer and Steve Trego (Jennifer); loving great-grandfather of Owen Kramer, Ryder Singer, Brooke Keefer, Hunter Trego and Lincoln Trego. Bob also has a living sister, Margaret Felger of Harmans and sister-in-law, Marian Payer of Catonsville.
Born July 11, 1925 to Frederick and Marie Keefer, Bob was a longtime resident of Lansdowne and retired as an electrician from the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad as well as the Anne Arundel County Board of Education. Upon retiring in 1985, Bob and Rose spent ten years outside of Berkeley Springs, WV enjoying country life before returning to Maryland in 1995 to settle in Westminster.
A proud Navy veteran of the Pacific Theater of the Second World War, Mr. Keefer served as a LCVP coxswain aboard the attack transport ship USS Knox (APA-46) from 1943-1945, delivering troops and material to the contested beachheads of Saipan, Tinian, Leyte, Luzon, Iwo Jima and Okinawa all the way through to the occupation of the Japanese mainland.
A true, old-school member of the “greatest generation”, Bob was a dedicated man of God that wanted for little and focused on family. He and Rose loved family gatherings for birthdays and holidays, and his survivors will cherish the memories of times spent together with Poppy and his feisty, competitive spirit.
