Robert Lee “Bob" Dowell, of Woodstock, Maryland, passed away on November 16, 2017 at the age of 80.
Born at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore on December 1, 1936, he was the son Robert Lee Dowell, Sr. and Anna (Kelly) Dowell. He grew up in the Morrell Park section of Baltimore City.
Bob started working at St. Agnes Hospital in 1957 and was drafted into the army a year later. While he served his country in Germany, St. Agnes held his job for him until his return. Bob spent 44 years working at St. Agnes, rising to become the Engineering Foreman before retiring in 2001.
Dowell was an avid hunter and loved the beach. He was married to the love of his life, Robin Nelson Dowell for 31 years. They enjoyed entertaining and dining out with their many friends.
Together they traveled to wonderful places but returned most often to their favorite: St. John, USVI.
Bob Dowell is predeceased by his first wife, Carole. He is survived by his loving wife, Robin Nelson Dowell; his sister, Nancy Faye; two children, Robin Gallo and Kevin Dowell, and two grandchildren, Julia and Jordan Gallo, as well as the extended family he deeply loved.
A celebration of Bob Dowell’s life was held on December 1, 2017 at Turf Valley Resort, 2700 Turf Valley Road, Ellicott City, MD 21042 from 5:30-9:30pm.
