Richard James Brown, age 76, sadly passed away on August 8, 2024. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Olaf H. Brown and the late Mildred A. Brown (nee Ruskil). Richard is the beloved husband of the late Shirley M. Brown; loving father of Carrie Gott (husband Tommy Gott), Richard Jay Brown (wife April Brown), and John Brown (wife Melanie Brown); dear grandfather of Justin Campbell, Allison Campbell, Connor Campbell, Teiler Kelly, Paige Brown, and Jordyn Brown “Little Brownie” expected arrival mid-December; cherished great-grandfather of Dayden, Alaya, Leo, and Declan.
Dear brother of Thomas Brown, Sr. And predeceased by 10 of his late siblings.
He is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Richard was well known throughout the Lansdowne community for his coaching of youth baseball for 12 plus years. He had a great joking and sarcastic personality, so much love to give, respectful to others, lessons to teach and was committed to his family. He enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in their sports such as softball, ice skating and many more activities. He was a very committed Orioles fan and never missed a game. He served in the Army and was drafted to be an engineer in Panama, clearing the canal lock.
Family and friends may gather at Ambrose Funeral Home of Lansdowne, 2719 Hammonds Ferry Rd., Lansdowne, MD 21227 for a public visitation on Tuesday, August 13 from 3:00-5:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 14 at 11:00am. Interment will be private.
