Pui Kam Kwong Tsang died on March 12, 2024. She was born on March 24, 1943, to Sun Wai and Yuet Kiao Kwong in Guang Zhao, China. She was married to her late husband Hon Ping Tsang on November 26, 1966, in Kowloon, Hong Kong. They were married for 53 years until he passed away in 2020. She studied to become a seamstress. She was quite talented in making her own Chinese Wedding Qipao and her daughters’ 8th-grade graduation dresses and High School Prom dresses.
She immigrated to Philadelphia in January 1978. She worked as a garment worker at Maylene Sewing Factory from 1978 to 1990 when the factory closed and moved its production to Mexico. She later worked as a pocket seamstress at Pincus Brothers- Maxwell (PBM) to support the men’s formal wear business until she retired in 2001. After retiring, she enjoyed playing Mahjong with her friends and showing off her prized plant “Queen of the Night” which blooms the most fragrant flower. She loves gardening and enjoyed taking care of her goldfishes.
Pui Kam was a devout follower of Chinese Traditional Buddhist religion. She observed important Chinese holidays such as Chinese New Year and Ching Ming, family birthdays, and was a model of filial piety. She was an accomplished Chinese home cook preparing homemade foods for family and friends such as “fun gaw” (dumplings), joong (sticky rice dumplings), Nine layer cake, and Chinese white radish cake.
Pui Kam was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and aunt: Yuet Lan Li.
She is survived by her son; Chi Yin “Jason” Tsang (Carmen), daughters; On Lei “Annie” Jung (Kurt), On Nar “Linda” Cartaya (Daniel), On Kee “Angela” Kim (Jonathan), and grandchildren; Emily Tsang, Jamie Tsang, Abella Tsang, Eric Jung, Nicole Jung, and Annaliese Cartaya.
On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, the visitation will be held at Ambrose Funeral Home from 10 am-12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to Gilchrist Hospice
