Milton Greffen, Jr.

Milton Warren Greffen, Jr., known as “Grif”, “Pop”, and “Fritz”, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022. He was born to Milton W. Greffen and Margaret Mae Shiloh Greffen on November 15, 1931. He was a Navy veteran who served during the Korean War (1951-1954). After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Grif met his wife Barbara (nee Sheppard). They wed in 1957 and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in June. Milt was the devoted father of Susan and her husband Ron, & Kirk and his wife Linda, cherished Pop of Erin, Philip, Jason, Megan, Rebekah, Sarah, Elena, Alexis & great-grandfather of Laird, Rita, Georgi, Scarlett, Clay, Greffen, & Layla.

Milt worked at the telephone company through its various name changes for 37 years. After his retirement he continued to work part-time for Ambrose Funeral Home. He continued working until just before his 90th birthday.

Milt was active at Covenant Fellowship in Marriottsville. He served the Lord there and earlier at Chapelgate Church by focusing on mercy needs. Milt was a Gideon and enjoyed distributing Bibles to students. He loved watching his grandkids and then great-grandkids play sports whenever he could. Barbershop music was a big part of Milt’s life. He was a member of SPEBSQSA for decades and served the Sweet Adelines doing backstage work at conventions. Milt was also a Mason in the Howard and Lebanon Lodges.

Family members and friends will gather on Wednesday in our Arbutus location from 3-5 and 7-9PM.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10AM at Liberty Church Liberty Church, PCA 11301 Liberty Road Owings Mills, MD 21117.  Interment will immediately follow in the Loudon Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to gideons.org.
