Mildred Short

Mildred M. “Milly” Short loving daughter of Barbara Dungan (nee Moran) and the late Jerald Hentz was born on July 24, 1949 in Baltimore,Maryland. She passed away on September 15, 2015 in Baltimore, Maryland. Mildred is the beloved wife of the late James C. Short; devoted mother of Elizabeth “Gracie” Ward and her husband Mike Duley, Donna Powell, William “Bill” Bailey, John “Johnny” Sheckles and his wife Crystal and the late Lisa Powell; cherished grandmother of John, Jr. and Christina Sheckles, Charles, Kimberly, April, Sharice, Michael, Shandell and Rayunda Powell, Jewesley Gray, Jr., Michael and Jeanette  Duley; and cherished great grandmother of Jaylin, Kayla, Alston and  Shakiya Thomas; dear sister of Casey, David, Barbara, Dianne, Susie, Bonnie, Doreen and Janet; caring aunt of 19 nieces and nephews; best friend of the late Delores, kind sister of the late Denise and Patricia. Also, survived by other loving relatives and friends.

Mildred loved her cats, doing crossword puzzles, country music, gardening, deer, crabs and her pajamas. She worked at University of Maryland Medical Center for 20 years.Her favorite color was turquoise. Mildred was known to bake the best homemade apple pie. Mildred was a special person with a heart of gold who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family members and friends will honor Mildred’s life with a public viewing on Tuesday, September 29th from 11AM to 1PM where a funeral service will be held the same day beginning at 1pm. Interment to follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
