Melvin “Pat” Cavey, age 87, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2016 in Walnut Cove, North Carolina in the care of his children.  He is the beloved husband of the late Agnes C. “Hookey” Cavey; devoted father of Carol Ann Schmelyun and her husband Jack, Jocelyn M. Martin and her significant other Steven Ensey, Jacqueline A. Miller and her husband Mike, Jeannie M. Khatib, and Kenneth S. Cavey; cherished grandfather of Michael, Chentell, Jason, Alena, Steven, Nicholas, Anthony, and Amira; dear great grandfather of Hayley, Taylor, Autumn, TJ, Natalie, William, Elizabeth, Shelby,and Lear; caring uncle of Kimberly Rossi and Robbie Rossi. He is also survived by many nieces , nephews other loving relatives and friends. Melvin is preceded in death by his parents William Thomas Cavey and Myrtle Cavey (nee Parker), his siblings Eunice, Buzz and Jean, and his great grandson TJ.

Melvin was born on March 19, 1928 in Baltimore, Maryland. He married his wife, Agnes, in October of 1952. Melvin loved to spend time with his family, Golf, Trains, Football (especially John Unitas), enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, Baltimore Orioles, Disney and his beloved dog Mac. He will certainly be missed by many.

A viewing will be held at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1328 Sulphur Spring Rd., Arbutus, MD 21227 on Tuesday January 5, 2016 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 12pm followed by burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
