Mark Everette Coates Sr. was born to the late Mildred Doris Jones and Everette Merriel Coates on November 24th, 1954 in Baltimore, Maryland. Mark was one of 4 children and grew up in Baltimore City. Mark grew up in the Christian Community and attended Lee Street Memorial Baptist Church. He started his career at W.R Grace April 6th, 1981 as a Master Operator in the production units of FCC Catilyst Plant and the Magnapore Plant through the year 1993. He then became a Multi-skilled Mechanic in December of 1993. He extended his certificates later at Dundalk Comunity College and earned a certificate in Industrial Maintenance Technology, with a GPA over 4.0. in August 1997. In June 2019, he then became a Lubrication Technician, as he planned to retire the summer of 2022.
Mark married Christine Coates on June 2, 1979 at Lee Street Memorial Baptist Church. They celebrated with many family and friends afterwards at the Nights Of Columbus on Fort Avenue in Baltimore, City. On Jaunary 15, 1985 Mark and Christine had their first child, a son, Mark Everett Coates Jr who carried on the family name. On June 15, 1989 Mark and Christine had their first daughter Holly Christine Coates. They spent their years raising their children with their family and friends creating memories that will live on forever.
Mark loved his family and always made sure that everyone was taken care of. He was an amazing Husband, Father, Father in law and Pop Pop. Mark was blessed to have 6 beautiful, grandchildren. Mark Everett Coates III, David Edward Coates, Sophia Christine Wheeler, Brycen Terrance Wheeler, Grant Dean Bowman and Malakai Chase Hagan. Mark was an amazing father in law to Marks wife, Stephanie Coates and Hollys Husband David Wheeler Jr.
Mark was a man who loved his family, his movies and a warm summer day. He enjoyed spending his summer vacations at Ocean City, Maryland staying at the Francis Scott Key Resort. On Janaury 27, 2022 at 11:24am, Mark met the lord surrounded by his family holding his hands. He did not lose the fight with being sick, he won the race at the almighty gates of Heaven.
Family & friends may gather at the family owned & operated Ambrose Funeral Home of Lansdowne, 2719 Hammonds Ferry Rd., Lansdowne, MD 21227 for a public visitation on Wednesday, February 2nd from 3:00-5:00pm & 7:00-9:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 3rd at 11:00am.
