Maria Marszalek, 63, of Lansdowne died Feb. 13
Maria was born Aug. 6, 1950 in Lindburg Germany. Her parents Anna and Teofil along with brother Joseph brought Maria on a steamship to the USA via Ellis Island in 1952. They lived on Maryland's Eastern Shore adding brother Edward and sister Barbara Krystyna before moving to Baltimore.
From early on Maria developed a love of animals and always had pets. Maria graduated Seton High School in 1968 and went on to Strayer Business College. She worked at General Crafts, Inc before moving to the MTA. In 1983 she went to Westinghouse. When Westinghouse became Northrop-Grumman in 1996, Maria stayed on to an advancing business career while earning an AA in Information Systems at Catonsville Community College. Then she earned a BA in Information/Business at the University of Maryland. When she retired in 2012, Maria had logged many years as a premier Purchaser/Buyer for the company.
Maria met Steve Jablonski in 1982 enjoying their 32 years together. There were no children but raised 2 beautiful Tibetan Mastiffs. Maria enjoyed beaches, traveling and cruises. She and Steve took trips across the US, to Canada, Hawaii, Panama and Australia.
Maria is survived by her life time friend and partner Steve, her mother Anna, brother Joe, sister Krystyna, cousins, nephews and nieces. Maria has been a devoted daughter caring for her ailing mother these past 9 years, while continuing to work full time. She was preceded in death by her father and brother Edward.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to favored animal rescues like The Wild Animal Sanctuary, The Humane Society of the United States, ASPCA or your local church.
A viewing will be held at the Ambrose Funeral Home; Thurs. Feb. 20; 3-5pm and 7-9pm located at 2719 Hammonds Ferry Road in Lansdowne. There will be a Mass at 11am Fri. Feb. 21 at St. Clement Church at 2700 Washington Ave. in Lansdowne.
