On January 12, 2018 LeRoy John Eckhardt, 87, passed away at Dove House in Westminster,MD. He was born on August 14, 1930 in Baltimore and was the son of the late Jerome and Alice Eckhardt and brother of the late Jerome Jr.. He was predeceased by parents-in-law Richard and Lillian Morrison and brother -in -law Michael Stivaletta. Surviving him is his beloved wife of 62 years of Jean Mary Eckhardt; loving father of Eric Eckhardt and his wife Denise, Michele Forero, & Richard Eckhardt and his wife Angela; cherished grandfather of Lauren, Kristen, Derek, Kyle, Katie, Stephanie and her husband Ross, Stacy and great grandfather of Kylin, Jr., sister-in-law Geraldine Stivaletta and many nieces and nephews.
LeRoy was an honorable and faithful Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War 1950-1953 after graduating from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. LeRoy graduated from University of Baltimore in 1963 with a degree in Business Management. LeRoy was employed by Maryland National Bank, now Bank of America and retired as Vice President. His interests included building model ships, boating and crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay, playing golf, being active in his church and traveling with his wife and family. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family and attending grandchildren's sporting events and family holiday gatherings.
Services for Leroy will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be directed to Carroll Hospice, Inc. 292 Stoner Ave. Westminster, MD 21157.
