John Lasher, Sr.

John Francis Lasher Sr. of Lansdowne, Maryland passed away at his home on Dec 4th, 2024 following a 16 month battle with brain cancer at the age of 73.

He was born in Jamestown, NY and moved to Florida as a child. Following his graduation from high school, John proudly served in the US Air Force. After over 9 years of service, he attained the rank of Sergeant. In 2017, he retired from Bob Bell Ford in Glen Burnie where he had worked for over 30 years.

Having a huge and giving heart, John could often be found giving of himself to others in many ways. He had volunteered at the rec center being a skate guard and helped to start a roller hockey team. You could find him helping neighbors, friends, and family with projects and repairs. John was part of the pit crew for his daughters's marching band. John enjoyed camping, creating lovely wooden pieces and making jewelry from bowling balls. He created huge Christmas light displays for all to enjoy.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Claire Hall Lasher; his children: son John Lasher, Jr and wife Brenda; daughters Jennifer Fernandes and her husband Brian; Theresa Dossa and her husband Kevin; and his beloved grandchildren Andrew Fernandes, Jocelyn Lasher, Delaney Lasher, Kaitlyn Fernandes, and Madison Dossa.

He is preceded in death by his parents: David and Margaret Lasher; his brother Brian Lasher: and his sisters Donna Geiger and Linda Bray.

A public visitation will be held at the family owned Ambrose Funeral Home of Lansdowne, 2719 Hammonds Ferry Rd. on Monday, December 9th from 2 PM to 4 PM and from 6 PM to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 10th at 9 AM. Interment will immediately follow at Garrison Forest Maryland Veteran Cemetery.
