Jean Lucke (nee Swoboda) passed away peacefully in the company of loved ones on the evening of July 2, 2020. Jean was the beloved wife of James C. Lucke and mother to Debbie O’Brien, Douglas Lucke, Pamela Lauer and the late Florence Britton. She was grandmother to Karina Happel, Jodi O’Brien, Victoria Lucke, Dylan Lucke, Marissa Lucke, Adam Lauer, James Lauer and John Lauer. She was also great grandmother to Sophia Hartman and Trey, Darienne and Brenton Happel. She was fondly known as “Aunt Sis” to many nieces and nephews.
Jean was born in 1933 on Fayette Street in Baltimore to Bertha and Melvin Swoboda. She was the youngest of seven siblings, all of whom have preceded her in death. Jean spent her entire life in the Baltimore area. In addition to raising her family, she also enjoyed a long career with Baltimore City Public Schools as the secretary of PS #34.
Family & friends may gather at the family owned & operated Ambrose Funeral Home, Inc., 1328 Sulphur Spring Rd., Halethorpe, MD 21227 for a public visitation on Wednesday, July 8 from 3:00-5:00 PM & 7:00-9:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 5976 Old Washington Rd., Elkridge, MD 21075 on Thursday, July 9 at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at Maryland Veterans Cemetery Crownsville on Friday, July 10 at 11:30 AM.
