James Townsend

On February 2, 2014 James "Jim" Townsend lost his courageous battle with cancer. He joins his sweetpea the late Maxine Jean Townsend and adored son James Patrick Townsend in the arms of the Lord. He also joins his parents Theodore Townsend and Effie Mae Kiewlicz. Always a devoted and hardworking father, he leaves behind a daughter, Samantha Sheppard, along with several "foster" kids who he loved as his own including J.R. Edmunds, Justine & Marshall Picket and "The Warden" Angie Kemmer (also his daughter-in-law),and recently Heidi Ryan. No Pop Pop in history was more loved by their grandkids than Jim who always had time, advice, fishing lessons, baking plans, etc.. for his grandkids. He will be sorely missed by Madison "Jellybean" Bodnar, Ethan "Buddy" Markel Townsend, JP "Pizz" Townsend and AveryRose "Nuggie" Fewster. He is survived by his siblings Robert Townsend, Richard Townsend, John Kiewlicz, and Tammy Sholze. He had many, many nephews and nieces and took pleasure in helping them, picking on them and giving them a kick in the pants when needed. He is fondly remembered by his Navy family and friends including Keith Maas, his bestfriend whom he loved like a brother. A memorial service is being planned for the spring.
