Helen Virginia Shappell

It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of Helen Virginia Shappell “Sissy” on March 6^th, 2024.

Sissy married Kenneth C. Hueg, Sr. in 1964 and had two children, Kenneth C. Hueg, Jr. and Theresa Lynn Hueg. In 1976 her husband passed away. Luckily, she met William “Bill” Elwood Shappell and they married in June of 1979. After Bill passed away in 2022 at home at the age of 96, Sissy continued to live in the family home in Arbutus, MD with her son Kenneth and his girlfriend Tammy.

Sissy is survived by her son Kenneth C. Hueg, Jr. and girlfriend Tammy Bowers; daughter Terry Cherry and husband Don; grandson Jason Cherry; last remaining sibling Nora Bushman and husband Bill; and niece Wendy Bushman.

 A public viewing will be held at the family owned Ambrose Funeral Home, Inc., 1328 Sulphur Spring Rd., Arbutus on Monday, March 18th from 5 PM to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held at Crownsville Maryland Veteran Cemetery, 1080 Sunrise Rd., Crownsville on Tuesday, March 19th at 1 PM.

From Kenneth: “I would like to thank Tammy Bowers, for all of the patience, understanding, and love she showed my mom; and Melinda Cummings, the best sitter, caregiver, and friend we could ask for, who took the best care of my mom since February, 2022. Words cannot describe my appreciation to Tammy and Melinda for all the things they have done for me and mom. The good thing is that she is now in heaven with her mom, her dad, her brothers, and Ken and Bill, watching over us as we go in this crazy world.”
