Our much loved Granny Gracie, Grace Elizabeth Jones (nee Haberkorn), passed away on the sunny afternoon of May 18, 2016 after a long fought battle with various illnesses to include lung cancer.  Gracie will be truly missed by her children Elmer and June Fox of Goose Creek, SC , Frank and Faye Fox of Pasadena, MD, and Norma (nee Todd) and Steve Thimmes of Williamsburg, VA. Grace enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, Frank and Melissa Fox, Heather Peña (nee Fox), Heidi (nee Fox) and Mark Treen, Kim King, Kelly Randelston (nee King), Kacey Thimmes, Stefi Thimmes, Taylor Thimmes, Jason Thimmes, Miranda (Rosie) Jones and Tabitha (Tabbie) Jones. She was excited as her family grew with the addition of her great-grandchildren Ashley, Tiffany, Alex, Nate, Luke, Hunter Hannah, Hayley, Michael, Winston, Destanie, Dominic, Bethany, Aryan and Olivia Grace.

Grace was born on July 15, 1935, the daughter of Paul and Grace Haberkorn, in Baltimore, MD and lived most of her life in the area, with a short stint in Lake City, FL to be closer to her daughter & family.  She is preceded in death by both of her parents, her beloved son Paul Fox, and two husbands, Stanley Jones and Milton Laird, whom she loved.

With her time on this earth, Grace was lovingly seen as the life of the party, the black widow, and a goofball.  She will be remembered by some as “the woman who outlived 4 husbands and a fiancé,” as she laughed & lightly “slapped” them.  Many would say that the party didn’t start until Gracie was there to get the laughs rolling.  She could always be counted on to share a story of something silly she had done or some predicament she had gotten herself into.  And it was never “safe” to take Granny Gracie out if there happened to be a cute guy around, because she was surely going to pinch his tush!  We will all certainly miss her laugh, her hugs and her mischief.  Rest in peace Gracie!

A visitiation will be held at Ambrose Funeral Home of Lansdowne on Sunday from 3-4pm with a memorial service starting at 4pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to Hospice of the Chesapeake (https://www.hospicechesapeake.org/support-donate).
