George Vogelsang, Sr.

George Leo Vogelsang, Sr., age 85, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2017. He was born on December 23, 1931 to the late James and Grace. He is the beloved husband for 65 years to Sara (nee Garonzik); devoted father of Lorrie Ballantine (George), the late Michael, George Jr., and Lynn; cherished grandfather of 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; brother of Fred. George is preceded in death by his other siblings, Nick, James, Carolyn, Margaret, and Dorothy.

George had a large family and will be mourned by many including nieces and nephews who loved and admired him. He will really be missed for his great wit and good nature. George was a very proud Navy Veteran. He was a retired over the road driver for UPS. George made many friends every place he went.

A viewing will be held at Ambrose Funeral Home 1328 Sulphur Spring Rd., Arbutus, MD 21227 on Tuesday from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service will take place Wednesday at 10am followed by burial at Baltimore National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in George’s memory to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
