George Nickey

George L. Nickey passed away peacefully on Friday, March 11, 2022.  Born on August 8, 1950 to the late Rita and Galen Nickey, Sr.;  he was the beloved brother of Loretta Nickey, Galen Nickey, Jr. and his wife Fran, Regina Nickey-Tolson, Patricia Granger, Mary Takovich and her husband Chuck, Joseph Nickey and his wife Laura, Thomas Nickey and his wife Holly, Jeffrey Nickey and his wife Kim.  George is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and many other family members and friends.

George was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching any type of contest – baseball, football, basketball, golf, racing, and he always enjoyed talking sports.  He was a long-time  attendee of the MS Swim Program at the Rolling Road YMCA and enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow clients as well as the volunteer participants.  George was also the family chronicler; he could recall dates of our large  family’s celebrations, birthdays, anniversaries.  A visit with George usually included updates on what was going on in our siblings’ lives.  He was truly the link that connected us as a family.
