George Layman

George Lee Layman (74), passed away on September 16, 2017 at the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, MD. He was born on October 8, 1942 in Baltimore, MD. George (aka Buddy to family) grew up in several states including Maryland, D.C., Virginia, and Texas. While in high school (Catonsville), he caddied at Rolling Road Golf Course along with his two older brothers. Afterwards, George began his professional career working for Krome Optical in Baltimore, MD. Years later he left the area and moved to Florida and became the youngest person to be President of the Optical Club. While in Florida he married and started a family with the birth of his daughter Kelly Anne Layman. After a number of years, George returned to Maryland where he was a Realtor for a period of time and then became a Chauffeur for local private schools. He later owned his own chauffeur business.
George is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Emily Layman and brother, Eugene V. Klug. George is survived by his daughter, Kelly Anne Layman; his brothers, Fred L. Layman, Jr., Wayne D. Layman, William E. Layman; his sisters Linda L. Tomarchio, Myra R. Voggenauer, and Louise E. Miller; nephews Tim, Victor, David, Stephen, Aaron, Brian, Jason, Clint, and Adam; and nieces January, Kathy, Kim, Sharon, Amanda, Jennifer, Melissa, and Emily. He also has 32 great nieces and nephews along with 5 great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will be greeting friends and family at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1328 Sulphur Spring Rd., Arbutus, MD 21227 on Saturday from 3 to 5 PM, where a memorial service will be held at 4 PM. A private burial service will be held at Green Hill Cemetery located in Waynesboro, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation, ATTN: Senator Bob Hooper House, 520 Upper Chesapeake Drive, Suite 405, Bel Air, MD 21014.
