Gary Whittle

Gary Robert  Whittle, 70, of Reading passed away May 30 ^th at Reading Hospital after an illness. He was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Emily Whittle, 3 daughters Cora Nolan, wife of Ed Nolan, Lia Arbaugh, wife of Curtis Arbaugh, and Mia Thiam, wife of Demba  Thiam. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Vanessa Schwab, grandsons, Jacob Arbaugh and Racine Thiam, and great grandchildren, Eddie and Morgana Fox.  He is also survived by his loving mother, Margaret Whittle, sister,  Janet Freedman, wife of Irving Freedman, niece, Jeanette Freedman, and nephew, Jason Freedman as well as other relatives.

Gary graduated from Albright College and Purdue University where he received his Master’s degree. He worked for Lucent Technologies as a quality control engineer. Gary was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the Air Force as a meteorologist. He is a published poet and a member of Berks Bards. He was interested in music and played several string instruments. His interests included painting, gardening,  reading and collecting books.
