G. Carolyn Bisser

On April 4, 2023, Gertrude Carolyn Bisser (Carolyn) went home to the be with our Lord.  She was the daughter of the late Carl Joseph Scheffel and Gertrude Scheffel (nee Griffith).  Preceded in death by her beloved sister, Barbara Ann Scheffel, loving mother of John Bisser (Lynn), Karla Arnold (Bob), Carl Bisser (Lori), Kathleen Kelly (Brian), Peter Bisser (Christy), and Barbie Currie (Steven O’Connor), loving grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  She is survived by her best friend of 81 years, Marlene Lewis, and close friends Alan Nordin, Brenda Kelly, and Nick Strickler.

Carolyn graduated from St. Ann’s business school in Baltimore.  She was a proud member of St. Clements Church in Lansdowne, heading up Sunday School for preschool aged children, a member of the prayer group, RCIA and becoming involved in many other events held at St. Clements.  She loved her Arbutus Community and enjoyed working as a secretary in the admissions office at UMBC.  Carolyn could meet a person and become friends within minutes.  She loved to talk, play cards, sing off-key, laugh at silly jokes and reminisce about her childhood and the “good old days.”  She moved to Augsburg Village in April 2021 and quickly made many new friends and even started up a “Cards with Carolyn” weekly night.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Family members and friends will gather on Monday from 3-5  & 7-9PM in our Arbutus location.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clement I Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10AM.  Interment will immediately follow in the Meadowridge Memorial Park.  

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or The Village at Augsburg.
