Flo Martinez

Florence “Flo” Irene Martinez (nee Tiller), previously Florence Irene Shumaker, passed away on May 23^rd, 2023. Born in Hillside, MD on the same day as her sister Nancy Harris’ birthday, August 11^th, 1941, to Mildred L. (Grimmley) Tiller and the late Robert I. Tiller, Jr., she was the loving wife of the late Gerald “Jerry” Maurice Martinez; devoted mother of the late Melvin B. Shumaker III, Frank B. Shumaker and wife Teresa, John W. Shumaker Sr., Mildred R (Shumaker) Marcus Carter and wife Doris F. Carter; cherished grandmother Ashley N. (Shumaker)Flores, Andrew B. Shumaker Justin B. Shumaker, John W. Shumaker Jr., Amy Roeseke, Michael Martinez, Chad Martinez, Christopher Martinez, Anthony Marcus, Angel Martinez, Justin Martinez, Harley Marcus, MaryEvelyn Marcus, Emilio Verry, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; dear sister of Robert I Tiller III, the late John Henry Tiller, Nancy (Tiller) Harris, Virginia (Tiller) Dowe, and Mary (Tiller) Goodrick.

   Also known to many as “The MumMum”, she was a graduate of Suitland Highschool and was a “Bonus Mother” to Donnie Martinez, Lee Martinez, CaraMae (Martinez) Jones, Kathi (Martinez) Klaus, the late Carl Anthony Martinez.
