Elmer John Shilow, of Glen Burnie, MD died peacefully On Thursday, October 16, 2014. He was 88. Elmer was born in Baltimore on January 4, 1926 to the late Raymond and Lillian Shilow. He was a devoted husband to Dorothy for 55 years until her death in 2010. He was a loving father and grandfather to his daughter Patty and his grandson Michael. He often said being a grandfather was one of the best times of his life.
Elmer retired from the US Postal Service after 25 years of service. Before working for the Post Office he worked for the B&O Railroad for 10 years. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Munich, Germany as part of the rebuilding after WWII.
Elmer will be remembered for his love and devotion to family and friends, his large caring heart and his love of a good joke. He was the life of the party! His greatest joy was putting a smile on your face. He will be greatly missed here on earth but he will keep them laughing in heaven.
Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, his daughter Patricia Conn and his grandson Michael Conn, his sister Margaret (Sis) Daily, his brothers, Owen, Melvin (Chuck), Raymond and Warren Shilow. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him with fondness.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Ambrose Funeral Home, Lansdowne, MD on Tuesday, October 21 st, 3-5 and 7-9 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Clements Church, Wednesday, October 22 nd at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place after the ceremony at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
