Edward Palecek of Baltimore passed away on Friday, July 5th at the age of 89 of a stroke. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marlyn Frock Palecek, two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Bailey (Dana) and Angela Trietley (Michael); six grandchildren Cassandra Bailey, Nick Bailey, Nathan Bailey, Michael Trietley, Christopher Trietley, and Emily Trietley; brother Norbert Palecek (Freda); brother-in-law Deacon James Ryan and many nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his sister Delores Ryan and parents Otto and Anna Palecek.
Ed grew up in a Czechoslovakian community in Baltimore City near his home church, Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church where he was an altar boy and also where he attended school. For high school he attended Calvert Hall.
Ed’s career paths as an electronics technician were jobs at Bendix Radio Corporation, the US Army, and Westinghouse. After retirement, and because he loved working with computers, he worked several years at Best Buy and was the Cannon representative.
Ed was a handyman and jack of all trades; interested in many things. He liked to do renovations on his own home, worked on cars, and stayed busy with many mechanical projects.
A viewing will be held at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1328 Sulphur Spring Road, Halethorpe MD 21227 on Monday from 5-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday at 10am at Ascension Catholic Church followed by burial at Lorraine Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ed’s memory to BridgingLife Hospice or the Come and See Foundation whose mission is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.
