Edna Williams Grant, age 87, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2024. A native of South Carolina, Edna was born to the late Juluis Williams, Sr. and Mattie Singleton Williams on August 2, 1935 in Greeleyville, South Carolina.
After graduating from Williamsburg County High School with honors in 1954 she attended South Carolina State University graduating in 1958. She attended Hunter College in New York city to become a certified dietitian while working as a dietitian at Mount Sinai Hospital.
On March 13, 1960, she married her college sweetheart, Second Lieutenant William Grant, Jr. They began a military journey for 20 years, traveling to many countries and states.
They were blessed with two children, Corey Jerome and Lisa Jayne. Then her life became primarily being a mother, vacation bible school, soccer, boy scouts, girl scouts, and school activities. She decided early in her life to put God first and let him lead her way.
She was a member of Protestant Women of the Chapel, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, retired officer’s wives club, Craft Club, Garden Club, and Red Cross. She was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. Her relationship with God was very important. She was a choir member and prayer warriors.
She is the beloved mother of Lisa Grant and the late Corey Grant; devoted grandmother to Victor Grant and Corey Grant, Jr., and the late Xavier Grant; caring sister of Jophelia James; dear sister-in-law of Henry Grant and his wife Betty; also survived by many very close family, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A viewing will be held at Lansdowne Worship Center on Thursday, May 30th from 10am - 11am with a funeral service beginning at 11am.
