Dennis Shockney

Dennis Robert Shockney, age 77, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2021. He was born on April 21, 1944 to the late Vernon and Anne Shockney. Dennis is the beloved husband of 53 years to Virginia (Ginny) Shockney; devoted father of Nick Shockney and his wife Lisa, and Pat Shockney and his wife Vicki; cherished grandfather of Rachel Shockney, Matthew Shockney, Sophia Shockney, Meghan Shockney, and Tristan Simpkins; dear brother of Abbey Shockney and the late Jack Shockney; brother in law of Lil Shockney, the late Maria Shockney, and Marie Shockney; dear uncle of Johnny Shockney, Tony Shockney, Maria Shockney, and Laura Shockney. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.

Dennis was a life member of the Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department and served there for over 50 years. He enjoyed boating, hunting, and going on cruises with his wife. Five years ago he and his wife made the move to the beach where they enjoyed spending their time. Aside from those activities, Dennis loved spending time with his grandchildren the most.

A memorial gathering will take place at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1328 Sulphur Spring Road, Halethorpe, MD 21227 on Friday May 7th from 6-8pm. A celebration of life will be held at the Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday, May 8th at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Dennis’ memory to the Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department Annual-Funddrive (arbutusvfd.org).
