Daniel Sven Olof Leaf

June 22, 1957 — March 3, 2025

Peacefully, on March 3, 2025 Daniel Sven Olof Leaf passed away at home.  He was the beloved husband of Sandra Lee Leaf; loving father of Daniel Sven Olof Leaf II – wife Kara Leaf, Christopher Thomas Leaf, & Zachary Nathan Leaf; cherished grandfather of Loretta Lindy Leaf; dear brother of Thomas Leaf (deceased) and Scott Timothy Leaf – wife Mary Leaf; also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews - The Leafs and Burtons are many and they are all close.

Dan was a man of many talents, with a wonderfully witty sense of humor. He truly enjoyed life, and lived a good life. He liked to make people laugh. He had many accomplishments is his life, he raised three wonderful young men and welcomed his first grandchild last year, who will always know him as “Pappy”. He married the love of his life nine years ago and together they made a great life. Also together, they fought his battle with cancer, she cared for him in their home until the morning he passed and peacefully went home to be with his Lord.

Dan worked for Howard County Bureau of Facilities as a Master HVAC Technician for twelve years. He was very involved in the apprenticeship program, and he greatly enjoyed mentoring, especially the young ones. He took pride in passing on his knowledge and guidance to the next generation. He enjoyed the people he worked with and the camaraderie that came with that, he has many friends throughout his HoCo family.

He was a great historian of many things, in particular the many wars of the world but especially those that took place in our country. The Civil war was his favorite, not that he liked war, but that he was impressed by the Generals tactical skills, he walked many a battlefield in Maryland and Virginia.

Dan loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and he instilled that love in the lives of his three sons.

He was a Life Member of the Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department, and he was very proud to be a part of that brotherhood. He was a Member of the Howard Lodge of Masons, for which he was also proud of.  Of the many things that made Dan proud throughout his life, nothing compared to the pride he had for his three sons, which he raised together, with his first wife Betty. They are his legacy. There will be a void in our family, but the memory of the man will live forever in our hearts.

Family members and friends will gather in our Arbutus location at 1328 Sulphur Spring Road on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8PM where a funeral service will take place at 11am on Monday. Interment will be private.
