Clifford Lewis

Clifford Irvin Lewis, 95, of Baltimore, MD, passed away on April 23, 2019 in Glen Burnie, MD.Cliff was born in Baltimore, MD to the late Estelle Lewis (nee Harrison) and to the late Howard Lewis on October 31, 1923. He is the beloved husband of 50+ years to the late Dorothy Naomi “Dot” Lewis; loving father of Jack Lewis and his wife Darlene. Cindy Bradley, and Sandy Capezio and her husband Matt; cherished grandfather of Chris, Dawn, Jenny, Melissa, Buddy, Brittany, Ashley and Kirk; and adored great grandfather of Eric, Matthew, Taylor, Hannah, Andrew, Jayci, Alayna, Elyse, Tre, Micah, Morgan, Owen, Landon, Shane, Peyton and the late Ryan. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends, including his loyal dog Daisy.

Cliff graduated from University of Baltimore with a degree in Business Administration. He worked as a salesman for Baltimore Business Forms, which later changed their name to Reynolds and Reynolds until he retired in 1991. After retirement, he started his own company, Lewis Forms Manufacturing. He was drafted in 1943, serving 3 years in the U.S. Navy, which he considered to be some of his best years!. He was stationed on the ship USS Begor during World War II and was awarded the following: American Area, Asiatic Pacific Area, Good Conduct Medal, and Victory Medal World War II. He was a member of the VFW, former President and current member of the Simian Society of America Club, and attended many of his ship's reunions. He loved big band orchestras, animals, especially Woolley monkeys which he raised until 1985, traveling, reading the newspaper and clipping interesting articles to share and ice cream before bed nightly.  If you knew Cliff, then you know he wasn't one for profanity, one of Cliff's curse words was "son of a seacook". Cliff didn't feel the need to say the word LOVE, instead he used the word "LOKE" (love & like combined) he felt the word love was over used and devalued the meaning. Cliff felt that through his actions you would be able to feel his love. He would often say he was lucky to have lived such an amazing life, but the real lucky ones were the ones he loved.

Cliff was one of a kind and an inspiration to all who knew him. He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and he will be greatly missed by all.

Family members and friends will honor Cliff’s life at the family owned and operated AMBROSE FUNERAL HOME OF LANSDOWNE with a public viewing on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm where a funeral service will follow on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 beginning at 12noon. Interment to follow in Glen Haven Cemetery.
