Carolyn Ann Lockerman, 64, born on 6/20/1949, of Greenland Beach, MD, went to heaven on 12/08/13. Her death was due to Adenocarcinoma of the Breast. She courageously fought Breast Cancer for 7 years and was an inspiration to many. She underwent countless treatments and had wonderful Doctors. The family would like to publicly thank Dr. Jon Minford and Dr. Sally Cheston. It is the belief of her family that without these two physicians and of course God's plan for her that she would have lost the battle sooner. All that loved Carol were thankful for the extended time that they were able to spend with her due to these two physicians never giving up and relentlessly trying new treatments.
Carolyn's legacy is the following: Daughter of Hessie Lockerman and the late James W. Lockerman. Sister of Margaret Lynn Warren and James W. Lockerman Jr. Mother of Michele W. Stickell, Kimberly A. Worthington, and Tina N. Liberto. Mother in law of Michael E. Stickell, Melvin J. Bessling Jr., and Hicham Belhadfa. Grandmother of Thomas J. Unkle III, Megan K. Stickell, Michael E. Stickell Jr., Adam Belhadfa, and Sophia Belhadfa. Great Grandmother of Malina S. Unkle. Aunt of Amanda Wholey. Great Aunt of Peyton Wholey. She was loved by many other family members: aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as a magnitude of extended family and friends.
Carolyn loved life, spending time with her family, shopping, photography, sewing, traveling, and her career. She thought that the most beautiful thing that she had seen was the Moroccan Sunset where the Mediterranean Sea connects to the Atlantic Ocean. Her youngest daughter, Tina, and her family have lived in Morocco for the past 4 years and she visited many times. Carolyn has always had a great love for Ocean City, MD where a dedication bench in her honor will be placed. She was a Master Barber for 30+ years and cut hair in the Route 40 and Catonsville areas for many of those years. One of the happiest times of her life and one of her greatest accomplishments was when she co-owned "Bloomsbury House of Hair" in Catonsville, MD. Her final career move was becoming a Store Manager for Columbia Beauty Supply (now known as Salon Centric - L'Oreal) and worked there for 15 years. She loved working in the Beauty industry and the interactions with her coworkers, salons, and beauty professionals that they serviced. She will surely be missed by all that knew her.
Her wishes were not to have any kind of immediate service but instead to have a Celebration of her life which will be held on June 21st (day after her birthday) at a local park so that the venue will be large enough to accommodate the magnitude of her family and friends. It is very important to note that anyone that felt touched by Carolyn's life be and feel welcome at this event. She wants the focus to be on the positive experiences and having her get together near her birthday will give us all some time to be working thru the grief process before then so our interactions won't be that of sorrow but joy. Plus anyone that knows Mom well knows she loves a warm summer day by the water. Her email was carolatthebeach for a reason:).Please check back to this site as more information will become available after the New Year.
In lieu of flowers, Carolyn wishes for donations to be made in her honor to any of the following:
