Bonita Weaver

September 14, 1943 — September 10, 2017

Bonita Joyce "Bonnie" Weaver (née Jenkins) departed this life on September 10, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Towson. She was born in Baltimore on September 14, 1943 to Owen C. Jenkins and Lorraine Filbey Jenkins, who predecease her. She was raised in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Baltimore and lived most of her adult life in Catonsville.

From an early age, Bonnie was fastidious about her appearance and always had hair, makeup and clothes "just so." She also had a great love for music and dance. As a child and as an adult, she studied and performed dance. She was a serious student and was valedictorian of her elementary school class. At Eastern High School, she majored in music and was a skilled high soprano.

Bonnie enjoyed a long career as a legal secretary, working for many years for Semmes, Bowen & Semmes, and later retiring from Franklin & Prokopik. She was known to be an organized and careful secretary who was devoted to her supervisors. She was also proud to have served as a US Army wife when her former husband was in the Army. She had a flair for design and at one time studied floral design. She took great pride in her home, which was carefully decorated. She was known for baking thin, crisp sugar cookies at Christmas, and for several years sold her cookies on a small scale.

Bonnie is survived by a daughter, Gina Weaver and her husband Eric Padgett; a grandson, Samuel Padgett; brothers Owen F. Jenkins and his wife Debra, and Randy Jenkins and his partner Laura; niece Brittany Jenkins; nephews Travis Jenkins and his wife Jennifer, Ryan Jenkins and his partner Kirsten, and Matthew Jenkins; two great nieces, Lainey Jenkins and Everleigh Jenkins; and her dear friend and love Garnell Richardson. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a sister-in-law, Kathryn Jenkins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marian House, 949 Gorsuch Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland, 21218. A memorial service will be held at Marian House on Saturday, October 7 at 11 a.m., with a light lunch buffet following.
