Bobby Lee Bowers Sr. of Baltimore, MD formerly of Giles Co, VA departed this life and went to be with the Lord on Friday Oct. 4, 2013 at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore at the age of 75 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease and Dementia, and finally pneumonia. He was born is Giles Co, VA on July, 20 1938. He was the son of the late Dennis David Harrison Bowers and Nannie Bell Elizabeth Bowers (Brooks). Bobby left Virginia at an early age and traveled to Maryland to find work. Since then, he has had many jobs and made Maryland his home to live and raise his family. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 58 years, Shirley Lorraine Bowers (Wilburn), 5 children: Nancy Ann Reusing and her husband Robert Avery Reusing, Bobby Lee Bowers Jr., Charles David Bowers Sr., and his wife Isabelle Jeanne Bowers (Miller), Gerry Alan Bowers and his wife Teri Lynn Bowers (Whatley), Gerald Wayne Bowers and his wife Cheryl Lynn Bowers (Saylor), 10 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, 1 Brother Howard Benjamin Bowers and his wife Phyllis Jean Bowers (Wilburn), Sister in laws, Shirley Bowers and Louise Bowers, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Opal Mae Shrader (Bowers) and his brothers Calvin James Bowers, Clarence Walton Bowers, Dennis David Bowers, Billy Eugene Bowers and Paul Cecil Blankenship/Bowers. Bobby loved horses, raising vegetable gardens, and bluegrass music.

A viewing will be held on Monday Oct. 7, 2013 at Ambrose Funeral Home in Arbutus Maryland from 3pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm. He will then be transported to Riffe's Funeral Home in Narrows, Virginia where on Wednesday Oct. 9, 2013 a viewing will be held from 11a-1p. The funeral service will take place at 1pm with Pastor Ray Shutt of Church of the Open Door of Westminster, Maryland officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Narrows Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to them to help with the funeral expenses.
