Angela Theresa (Ellis) Silanskis, 91, of Halethorpe, MD, passed away, surrounded by her children on June 27, 2022 at Charlestown Retirement Community, Catonsville, MD. Angela was born on February 18th, 1931 in Baltimore, MD to Mary Emily (Aud) Ellis and James Bernard Ellis. She attended St. Jerome’s School and then Catholic High School in Baltimore, graduating in 1949. Angela married her high school sweetheart, Albert Silanskis in 1950. Her growing family was the source of joy and the focus of her entire life. She worked in her community at Mt. St. Joseph High School and then in the Computer Science department at UMBC until her retirement in 1994. Her love for people was evident to everyone she met throughout her lifetime. The bookshelves lining her home exemplified her passion for books and reading. She was friendly, kind, and helpful. She loved to travel and spent much time on the beach. She loved shoes and her dog Sunny. Throughout her lifetime, she cared for others more than herself.
Angela is predeceased by her loving husband Albert in 1982. She is survived by her six children: Linda (and Stephen) Maszgay, Christopher (and Kathy) Silanskis, Joanne (and Michael d.2013) Macenko, Susan (and Thomas) Weingartner, Mary (and Mark) Laulis, and Theresa (and Melvin) Clark. Angela is predeceased by one grandchild, Jeffery Simpson and is survived by twelve grandchildren: Rebecca Heuston, Kerry Silanskis, Jeremy Silanskis, Sarah Proctor, Angela Macenko, Emily Macenko, Jessie Ronai, Clay Weingartner, Samantha Stephey, Matthew Laulis, Jake Silanskis and Ben Silanskis. She has many great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Helen (Richard d.2013) Kreiner and is predeceased by two brothers, James (Katherine d.2009) Ellis and Joseph (Mary) Ellis.
Visitation will take place at Ambrose Funeral Home, Arbutus, MD on Friday, July 1 from 3 to 5pm and 7 to 9pm. The funeral will take place on Saturday, July 2 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Angels Chapel at Charlestown Retirement Community. Interment will be at Loudon Park, Baltimore, MD following the funeral.
