Dorcas Eileen Brooks passed away peacefully on February 17, 2016 surrounded by loving family.

She was born on September 30, 1925 in Woodlawn, MD to the late Harry E. Duvall and Ernie Duvall (nee Widerman) and was the last surviving of 11 children. Dorcas raised her family in Arbutus and lived there for many years.

A loving, thoughtful and caring mother, Dorcas is survived by her children; Eileen Neely, Cheryl Peters, Alan Brooks and Jennifer Taylor. Grandchildren; Cyndy, Christine, Donna, Debbie, Brittany, Jessica, Alan Jr., Erica, Miranda, Samantha, and Leroy. Great-grandchildren; Megan, Ryan, Tyler, Lily, and Olivia. Great-great-grandchildren; Brandon, Marcus, Jasiah and Kaleb. Dorcas was predeceased by her son James Allen Brooks, Jr.

She worked for many years serving the public at Montgomery Wards, Martin's West, Denny's and finished her working career at age 80 with UMBC.

Dorcas loved being part of her community as a member of The Church of the Holy Apostles since 1955, involved with their women's group, Christmas and Easter activities. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 109 on Sulphur Spring Rd, volunteered at SWES at the Methodist Church in Arbutus, active in the Arbutus Homemakers and a member of The Red Hat Society.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing bingo and loved going on bus trips with various organizations, vacationing in Ocean City, Kent Island and Florida. Dorcas loved spending as much time as possible with her family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 5th at 1:00 PM at The Church of the Holy Apostles located at 4922 Leeds Ave, Arbutus, MD 21227.
