Family Owned vs. Chains  The Ambrose Family and Their Treasured Staff We are proud to say that Ambrose Funeral Home, Inc. is currently one of the few family-owned and operated funeral homes regularly servicing families in this community. Our funeral home was founded by Joseph T. Ambrose, Sr., Stella Mae Ambrose and Joseph T. Ambrose, Jr. in 1936. The business began at Cross and Dexter Street in South Baltimore. The funeral home was later moved to 414 West Franklin Town Rd. in West Baltimore. Sept. 6, 1948, it was moved to one of our current locations at 1328 Sulphur Spring Rd. in Arbutus. Over the years, our family realized that there was a need for a second funeral home. On June 1, 1990, we branched out into the Lansdowne area. The second funeral home is now located at 2719 Hammonds Ferry Rd. Our funeral home is currently run by the third generation owners. We are Joseph F. Ambrose, Jr. and Sean P. Ambrose. Despite the recent takeover of other family owned funeral homes by conglomerate enterprises, we fully intend on remaining family owned and operated. We feel that our family serving your family is a better way to serve our community. One of our major goals is to assist our clients by handling the funeral services first, before considering the financial obligation. No money is needed up front. We regularly assist our clients in arranging funerals for whatever type of funeral they wish, such as out-of-state burial, cremation or body donation. We are able to make funeral arrangements at the time of need, or before the time arises with or without pre-funding; the decision is up to you. Our family and staff will be here for you when the need arises, and you will be able to depend on us to treat your loved one with the care and dignity you would expect to receive.
